West vs. Swift
The controversy between rapper/singer Kanye West and singer/songwriter Taylor Swift has been going on for over a year now. When Kanye West jumped up on stage during Taylor Swift's thank-you speech at the VMA's last year, he grabbed the mic and told the crowd that Beyonce deserved the award. West has since apologized a number of times over the past year, including recently via Twitter. In Swift's SNL episode last November, her "Monologue Song" consisted of the lyrics, "And if you're thinking I might say/Something bad about Kanye/And how he ran up on the stage/And ruined my VMA monologue/Well there's nothing more to say/Cause everything's okay/I've got security lining the stage." And went to commercial with, "Everyone stick around, we have a great show planned! Kanye West is NOT here!" Now in this situation, the situation was sill an "open wound." And it was funny. But this year at the VMA's, Swift sang a song from her new CD, called "Innocent." The song was written about her incident with Kanye West. I think that this was immature and sure, it's great that she is writing about her past experiences, but singing that song at the VMA's...? That's a little harsh to West, who IS very apologetic. I think people are done with this incident, I know I am.
